The brief

A pitch to rebrand Cromford Mills and its associated brands (Cromford Creative and the Arkwright Society), bring the brand up to date and redesigning the website.

The challenge

The relationship between the brands was confusing, the designs were tired, use was inconsistent and the website design had evolved organically, becoming unwieldy and lacking logic.

The solution

A refresh rather than a rebrand, using existing typographical and design elements to update the branding and create a connection between all elements. By modifying the curve design from the existing Cromford Creative logo, we developed an individual icon for each brand based on its initials.

The webite design was pared down and the UX improved, with the individual elements of the Arkwright Society being easily accessible.

The results

We didn’t win the pitch. But we learnt a lot about the Industrial Revolution and added valuable content to our portfolio.

  • Brand Revision
By using the existing brand elements  –  font style, typographic layout and colour – we ensure a synergy across the brands.
  • Brand Evolution
We introduced the ‘learning curve’ to each logo
. By modifying the curve design from the existing Cromford Creative logo we developed an individual icon for each brand based on its initials.
  • The new brand elements are used to create a strong visual identity across all touchpoints.
  • The new brand elements, combined with both the existing colour palette and style guide, are used to develop a more exciting, engaging and user-friendly website.
  • New branding works with existing photography and videography.
